REAGAN RADEL

I am interested in exploring the themes of anxiety/mental illnesses, social norms, and finding one’s own self through my work. I want to create pieces that will start conversation about said themes, sometimes resulting in rather serious or embarrassing interactions. Over the years my work has developed into a collection heavily revolving around the human figure. The mediums I tend to lean towards while creating a sculpture piece is plaster/concrete, and silicon molds. While also entering into the fiber realm, I use fabric dying techniques, felt, and yarns. These mediums, especially fiber, can be a more gentle way for the audience to open up conversation about the theme of my piece. I draw inspiration from Cindy Sherman and her photographs for many of my sculptures. I often play with personas while using the human figure in a number of my sculptures, similarly to Sherman.
