I’m not a tourist, I’m not a visitor. Growing up in a place I am not from is an obscure idea, but it has made me into who I am. I have lived in Wexford, Ireland; Lansdale, Pennsylvania; and Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. Each area has shaped me to become who I am today. The landscapes of each town vary in many ways, in Wexford, I see castles and traditional windmills, but in Lansdale, I see modern buildings and water towers. Context of an image is very important, but so is the material and method used. Designs stem from a photograph, leading to a digital illustration and from there, an image is silk-screen printed on to fabric or paper depending on how the end result should appear. In order for me to accumulate all the skills I wanted, I decided to declare four concentrations: Photography, Graphic Design, Fiber, and Printmaking. This was not a track I intended to pursue but being in the art community has shaped me to pursue more than expected. This is my final semester at Bloomsburg University, but I will never stop creating, to stay updated on my art, follow me on Instagram @bmccoystudio and on bmccoyart.com.
