The Exosphere is the fifth and outermost layer of the atmosphere.

The Exosphere layer begins around 300 miles above Earth's surface and goes for almost 6,000 miles.

There are mass temperature changes in the Exosphere and temperatures can range from 0 to over 1700 degrees Celsius. Due to this, there is no life contained here.

The word 'exosphere' is derived from the Greek word 'exo' meaning 'outside' or 'external'. Where the exosphere ends, space begins.

The Thermosphere is the fourth outermost layer of Earth's atmosphere.

The Thermosphere layer begins around 60 miles above Earth's surface and extends up 300 miles.

This layer is also home to one of the most amazing sky phenomenas, the Aurora Borealis or better known as the Northern and Southern lights.

Also, the International Space Station orbits the earth in this layer.

The Mesosphere is the third outer-layer of Earth's atmosphere.

The Mesosphere layer begins around 30 miles above Earth's surface and extends to around 60 miles.

Approximately 40 tons of meteors fall towards earth each day, and we rely on this layer to burn them up before they reach Earth's surface.

The Stratosphere is the second outer-layer of Earth's atmosphere.

The Stratosphere layer begins around 6 miles above Earth's surface and extends to around 30 miles.

90% of the ozone layer is found in this layer. The ozone layer absorbs UV radiation from the sun that would otherwise be deadly.

The Troposphere is the innermost layer of Earth's atmosphere.

The Troposphere layer begins at Earth's surface and extends to about 6 miles.

All the weather we experience on Earth such as rain, thunderstorms, lightning, wind, and tornadoes are all created in this layer.
